Abstract

The author who is a graduate student analyses and shares insights via a blog post regarding her anxiety about doing her first peer review for a journal manuscript. Notions of imposter syndrome and the fear of being too critical are discussed. In addition to introspection, she comes across a blog post by anthropologist Joseph Dumit on the process of reading that together positively changes her perceptions of being a peer reviewer. The author creates a reference chart for others to use on based on Dumit’s blog post.
