This op-ed was written for the SFU student paper: The Peak. It argues SFU student's should attend public lectures and points out the benefits of these events. As a part of the President's Dream Colloquium on Making Knowledge Public, I thought sharing the value of public talks/guest lectures would help to break some of the barriers to making knowledge known in universities as these events encourage students to enrich their studies and engage in multidiplinary learning. This op-ed also has a promotional aspect!
