Submission Preparation Checklist
As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Research Paper Rubrics
This is a checklist of expectations for the papers prior to submission.
Integration of Knowledge
The paper demonstrates that the author fully understands and has applied concepts learned in the course. Concepts are integrated into the writer’s own insights. The writer provides concluding remarks that show analysis and synthesis of ideas.
Topic Focus
The topic is focused narrowly enough for the scope of this assignment. A thesis statement provides direction for the paper, either by statement of a position or hypothesis.
Depth of discussion
Discussion properly delves into material (primary, secondary, theoretical) in all sections of the paper.
Cohesiveness
Ties together information from all sources. Paper flows from one issue to the next without the need for headings. Author's writing demonstrates an understanding of the relationship among material obtained from all sources.
Spelling and grammar
There are no spelling &/or grammar mistakes. Names of authors/titles are correctly spelled and titles are correctly underlined/in quotation marks (where appropriate).
Sources
More than 5 current sources, of which at least 3 are peer-review journal articles or scholarly books that bear directly on the discussion. Sources include both 1-2 theoretical texts from the course, at least 1 primary source, and secondary criticism. Special-interest sources and popular literature are acknowledged as such if they are cited. All web sites utilized are authoritative.
Citations and References
Cites all information obtained from other sources in the reference list. MLA citation style is used in both text and bibliography. No footnotes.
